Photoshopped Food

All the discussion in photoshopped photography, as of late, has been in reference to trimming and beefing up models, making them look as sexy as possible. The viewing public, according to social media, is sick of it! It paints unrealistic images of what people should aspire to look like and promotes unhealthy lifestyles. I couldn’t agree more.

But people aren’t alone in the world of photoshopping. Perhaps ever more shocking are the amount of images of food that have been photoshopped. The difference between the originals and the final products are so grandiose that, while disgusted, I’ve still found myself impressed with their artistry. Fast food companies are the most notorious offenders of photoshopping images of their products to make them look more appealing. Here are just a few examples of what a little photoshop makeover can cover up.

Burger King: AFTER PHOTOSHOP

What a delicious looking burger, full of cheese and jalapeno chunks within the meat.  A burger like this could make you salivate if such a thing existed, but in reality…

…we see the real product, a burger so moldy that they had to photoshop out a segment of the burger.  Super gnarly, and an impressive piece of editing.

McDonalds: AFTER PHOTOSHOP

MCD_AFTER

McDonalds, famous for their burgers.  A true staple in the fast food world.  The mushroom burger here looks exquisite, almost jumping off the backdrop.  What a great looking burger, right? Or is it?

In reality, this “burger” is a piece of elephant dung with mushrooms sprouting out of it.  At the very least, those mushrooms are fresh!

KFC: AFTER PHOTOSHOP

KFC is known for their bowls and buckets full chicken thighs and drumsticks.  This looks almost as good as the McDonald’s mushroom burger, which makes sense because…

…it’s also a bucket of shit.  It’s pretty sketchy on KFC’s part to take a picture using a Home Depot bucket and not even share the credit with that corporation.  The real question is if there is any chicken in that bucket, which is a distinct possibility.

Pizza Hut: AFTER PHOTOSHOP

Pizza Hut knows how to sell an image.  Look at all that dripping, stretching cheese.  Yum yum yummmmayyy.  After photoshop, it’s almost as if this isn’t actually a picture of…

Taco Bell: AFTER PHOTOSHOP

One of my personal favorite restaurants, Taco Bell, offers the whole Mexican food experience, usually experienced during the late hours of the night.  It’s an enticing treat, stuffed into that tortilla, looking good when in reality…

So be aware of what kinds of images are making your tummy grumble and mouth drool, because they could be incredibly misleading.  Smarten up, America, we want to see REAL food!
